Sept 24-26, 2010 INFORMATION World Bridge Federation Series & 16 Day Philadelphia Regional October 1-16, 2010 I'm Just an old chunk of coal; but, I'll be a diamond someday. Well I did as I pleased and I said what I thought . . . So many abuses and no damn excuses I've often been told that I'm one of that kind Never put off until tomorrow what you can ignore forever ![]()
I'm not sure whether glory or masterpoints is first on the list, but I know learning to play better is definitely last. It's not whether you win or lose. it's how you place the blame - Thanks to Judy Stein, Laporte PA "No double, no trouble." One advantage of bad bidding is that you get practice at playing atrocious contracts.

Contact your local club to find out about participation January 19, 2010 BUS TRIP TO THE PHILADELPHIA REGIONAL TOURNAMENT Hi All - Helene Megargel and I are working on organizing a bus trip to the Philadelphia Regional Tournament during the World Bridge Series Championship in October of this year. It is being held at the Marriott in Philadelphia. Tournament runs from October 1 through October 15th. Everything I have listed below is just an estimate but I would like to have feedback from you with just an estimate of how many of your players might be interested. The bus would leave from Honesdale and will pick up in Scranton and Stroudsburg. I have based my prices on 40 reservations - however the bus holds more and if we have more the cost would be less - if we have less than 40, the cost would be more. The WBF is offering $2.40 per player per day. Tentative dates to leave are October 5th and return on October 9th. There is a special game scheduled at the tournament called Golden Opportunity Pairs which is being held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It gives overall gold points and is limited to 0-750 points with B being 0-300 points. This is a good opportunity for 0-750 players to get gold points in a pairs game. The bus trip would cover two of these games. In addition there are all the regular team and side games and Bracketed Knockouts start every day and they are expecting 6 brackets which is good for players with under 2000 points because they will have 4 brackets to themselves and these events pay partial gold. If we have 40 people - and every one shares a room, I estimate the cost to be approximately $375.00 per person. Now this is just my first estimate. Helene has not gotten prices from the Hotel yet to see if they will give us a block price which would lower the price. I wanted to get this out to all of you as we are just in the formative stages and we can change anything at this time.My price is figured on staying at the Marriott. I know Helene is looking at other hotels. We can change the date if for some reason these dates clash with anything. I'd like to hear all your positives and negatives now so I can perhaps have a better package drawn up and ready for the board meeting in March. Also, if we can decide on the dates early we can get everyone to get it on their calendars so they don't make other plans. You need to impress on them it is an opportunity to play in a World Bridge Championship and its just down the road. Please email me with and suggestions, complaints, criticisms or just chatter on this tentative trip. Fay Pacchioli
